The Marble Floor project in my Scenic Painting class was an exercise in learning the necessary techniques and layering that is required for a marble faux finish. To achieve the effect, I started by priming a 4'x6' soft flat in grey, then wet-blending three shades of green in a random, wavy pattern. When that layer was dry I began directional spattering and feathering in grey and cream. A mixture of gloss and Payne's Grey was added and sponged. Finally, I did a final layer of directional spattering and feathering to complete the painting.
